Im afraid i wouldnt be too optimistic about that JJB, It probably wouldnt go blue in a 1983 type year. I cant believe any posters are adovcating the decision to add Gateshead wards to the rural-north of tyne Hexham seat. That should be avoided at all costs. A cross bridge seat wouldnt be too bad at all in comparison.

Agree entirely on all points. When I was producing my own draft seats this is more or less how I did it. Presumably the Conservatives will be strongly objecting to the Commission, particularly given that there are obvious alternatives

I agree boundary changes are a bit crazy round here, it is actually possible to leave this seat alone while recreating a slightly expanded Newcastle E & Wallsend and a Cramlington and Longbenton constituency.

It's pretty difficult to avoid adding at least a couple of Blaydon wards to Hexham though to make the numbers add up in order to get sensible constituencies.

The Boundary Commission proposals pulverise all the existing seats in this region. This would seem to remove any Conservative chances in Tynemouth. Even Hexham looks dodgy on the new boundaries.

Left side of the line - did Harrison have any opposition members in his Cabinet then? No, thought not. Linda Arkley invited Labour to put forward a member for her Cabinet and they refused.

You complain that Labour only had four chairs previously (remembering also that the other opposition party the Liberals also had Chairs and Deputies) so how can that justify you taking all of them? Weird logic.

As for taking every opportunity to work with the current administration, anyone who has seen Labour's bully boy antics in the council chamber knows that that is a ridiculous claim.

Obviously that's highly unlikely.
The Tories need to regroup here to focus on effective opposition and how to wrest the Parliamentary seat.

The Tories urgently need a strategy to win every single seat next year, on NT council.
So that means holding everything won in 2008, and all the Labour strongholds throughout the Borough.

It's going to be tough.

During the duration of NOC and Tory control before this years local elections the Labour party had had only 4 chairs of committees of which none were what you would call the major committees.

Also following the 2009 mayoral election the Labour party offered the mayor to have members in her cabinet she rejected them suggesting that she did not trust them.

In this period as well the labour party has took every opportunity to work with the mayor both in and out of the council chamber but have often been put down in the chamber from a mini coalition with the public whip showing that the liberals vote with the Tories on NT council the majority of the time.
