Former MP for Maldon (1955-74) Brian Harrison passed away last Sunday aged 89.

Maldon was represented by Labour MP Tom Driberg between a June 1942 by-election and 1955. He became chairman of the Labour Party in 1957.

According to Wikipedia, one of Driberg’s activities was to “solemnly pledge himself to the Great Work in the presence of the Beast 666″. In other words, he was a secret occultist.

This is one of seven Tory seats with a majority of 40% or more (40.5% to be precise)… it is number seven on this exclusive list.

However, the Tory share did not quite reach 60% – t’was 59.8%.
