I thought that too.

It does mean that the above mention Cllr Lowe will be standing under his new colours quite soon after his defection to UKIP. I would have though his chances of re-election are slim. I am not aware of a single case of a UKIP defectee successfully defending their old seat under their new allegiance.

Sounds somewhat inefficient that there are ward changes already. You’d have thought they could have got that sorted out in 2008.

I disagree quite strongly with Barnaby here about this seat being affected by Merseyside trends.
The Tory share has recovered above average here since 1997.
But I also suspect that the LD vote is quite heavily Labour leaning, and that could pose a problem for the Tories.

The elections this year for CWAC council are all out as a result of ward boundary changes.

To me the name “Cheshire West & Chester” is stupid as the latter is obviously part of the former. I see no reason for Chester to be mentioned at all in the title. Devon is not “Devon & Exeter” or Oxford “Oxfordshire & Oxford” (although Exeter racecourse did used to be known as Devon & Exeter).

Why is the council called Cheshire West & Chester? Surely Chester is itself in western Cheshire by any measure.

Tory Cllr Richard Lowe (City ward) has defected to UKIP. He is to stand for them in Garden Quarter ward in May.
