Which seats have included present-day Llandaff ward (with the Cathedral)? It must of course have been in the Cardiff division before 1918
Why ‘of course’? Llandaff was not part of Cardiff at that time and it was in fact part of the Glamorganshire South county division rather than the Cardiff district (which did however include Llantrisant and Cowbridge).
Llandaff must of course have been in the Llandaff & Barry division from 1918 to 1950. I believe it has been in Cardiff West since then.
Yes it has.
Cardiff West was captured by Stefan Terlezki for the Conservatives in 1983, following a strong intervention by the SDP.
Could we see results similar to 1983 here again this year?
The 1983 result is one that i remember vividly. There are two reasons i recall it 1) it was the first election i was allowed to vote in and 2) my local councillor was the Labour Candidate.
The candidate was David Seligman who was regarded in Caerau the ward he represented as being very lazy and uncaring. This along with his ward colleague who had a drink problem did not benefit the Labour Party.
It led to the Caerau Ward being the only ward where the SDP were leading in on election day. This had been a ward that voted Labour solidly at general elections.
Unlikely to happen this time as the Tories are concentrating their efforts on Cardiff North and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The only party that seems to be working the whole constituency is the Labour Party, the tories are working Pentyrch and Radyr, the Lib Dems Caerau, Ely and Llandaff and Plaid Cymru Creigiau, Fairwater and Riverside.
So unlikely to be a change.

That’s interesting Pete, I always thought it was part of Cardiff.
I read somewhere that Llandaff is in the North seat instead of West, but you appear to confirm that it is in fact in West.
Llandaff is in West, Landaff North is in North.
