To be fair, they had a proper choice. The fools chose Berc. I doubt the choice would have been different if Labour of the Lib Dems had stood, and it was always asking a bit much for the Tories to stand against him-although that would have been terrific.

Couldn’t agree more Shaun

I assume getting booted off the awful Big Brother first would have hurt somebody as celebrity-obssessed as she seems

Perhaps Mr Bercow let her know that her antics are entirely unhelpful in his quest to be regarded as a serious political figure

Agreed. He tends to say it during PMQs. Well, the public gallery is always packed then so the public don’t seem to be that put off do they?

Mrs Bercow was on another absurd reality TV show recently with some gypsy she befriended on Big Brother. I don’t think she has kept her mouth shut – just perhaps the media have frankly become a bit bored with indulging her

I have noticed that too. He’s certainly been a bit better recently, and I suspect Mrs Berc has been stung by the realisation that she is widely regarded as a national joke and decided to shut up for a bit.

I agree Speaker Berc is probably certain to remain until 2015, and if he keeps his nose clean between now and then, he may well get re-elected in the next palriament.

His return to stupidity this week however is a worrying sign, and he still does like to hog the limelight a bit too much at PMQs doesn’t he. He likes to be seen on the telly and to tell members that ‘the public don’t like it’ a bit too much.

It is nevertheless noticeable that in the past few months Bercow has knuckled down to the job and stopped behaving like an idiot. And his wife has kept her mouth shut and her over-rated self out of the celeb magazines.

The outrage they provoked from all quarters seems to have gone away, and he would now seem a dead cert to last until 2015.
