This line 'there are really only two parties who could form a government' is coming out so often, it seems like it must be one of Tory high command's 'key messages', but it includes elements of dishonesty. There are two possibilities that it choses to pretend don't exist: the coalition government - a situation in which. literally, a third (fourth, fifth, sixth etc) party forms part of the government: or a minority govt that has to rely on other parties for support - a situation where a party forming a govt is less clear cut.
Beyond that, is the attempt to confuse voting for an MP with voting for a Govt. Voters might want to do the latter, the truth is, only the former is on offer.

I watched this programme. The Labour candidate is in 'denial mode' and refused to answer questions about race. Such attitudes play into the hands of the BNP. The Tory candidate came the line that there are really only two parties who could form a government so why bother voting Respect? I think that shows a lack of respect in itself. Watch it yourselves, please.

Having checked it out a very, very small bit of the old Small Heath ward is now in Springfield (thus part of this seat). It is the area between the Warwick Road and Weston Lane in the far NE of Springfield ward.

You are of course correct about Nechells

I think none of the old Small Heath ward is in this seat. It appears to be split three ways now between Hodge Hill, Yardley and Ladywood and the southern boundary of the old Nechells ward was further north than the current ward

Just realised that I misread the question.

Roughly 2/3rds of 83-97 Sparkbrook is now in this seat.

As for 83-97 Small Heath. I can't remember of the exact boundaries of the old Small Heath and Nechells wards. It is possible that some small bits of them are now in this seat.
