This morning’s YouGov daily poll for the Sun has topline figures of CON 34%, LAB 39%, LDEM 9%, UKIP 12%. At the start of the week YouGov produced an interesting string of seven point Labour leads, but with a four point lead yesterday and a five point lead today it looks as it’s business as usual. Full tabs are here.

Meanwhile the twice weekly poll from Populus has figures of CON 32%, LAB 38%, LDEM 9%, UKIP 13%. Full tabs for those are here.

  1. The financial debate about ‘England subsidising Scotland’ needs to be laid to rest.
    —————–
More people in England & Wales think the UK would be worse off were Scotland to leave than better off. So perhaps the ‘subsidy myth’ is being laid to rest.

Anthony has covered the above on the new thread which he’s put up which has a very good round up of all the Scotland related polling which has been released this weekend. I heartily recommend reading it.

  2. Couper2802,

Again, the ‘No’ camp is not attempting to undermine Scottish self-confidence. The whole point of the pro-UK argument is that Scotland is better off within. You are again just repeating the SNP’s spin.

The SNP has published their entire case in their White Paper, covering every angle of an independent Scotland (fiscal, economic, social, foreign, defence, energy, constitutional etc.). This document has since been repeatedly challenged with several keystone policies thrown into doubt.

Just what quivers do the SNP still have available to use?

“Never complain, never explain – wasn’t that Stalin?”

No. It was Disraeli, as I said. If you persist in this Reformism you will learn the penalty for Trotskyite Deviantoinism, exiled for life to a barren, windswept island off the north-west coast of Scotland.

Another real problem is that the SLAB establishment absolutely hate the SNP – so unfortunately the debate is not about what is best for Scotland but is very party political.

I’d be interested to know what supports your assertion because I don’t believe that’s correct. In my experience, the MSPs in Labour’s shadow cabinet have professional respect for the SNP; I’ve never heard anything, ever, which could be called ‘hate’.

  5. Yougov link- If the link in the page doesn’t work, there is a recent results in politics column on the right and that link always works

  6. I’ve just created a summary of the YG VI data for this week, showing what percentage of the VI for Com, Lab, LD and UKIP comes from identifiers from the 2010 GE for Con, Lab and LD.

I will do the same each week. It’s interesting to see where the current VI comes from.
