By-elections - 15th November 2012
Corby By election
Caused by the resignation of Louise Mensch, who announced on the 6th August she was moving her family to the USA to order to spend more time with her New York based husband. Mensch was appointed as Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead on 29 August 2012 and the by-election will be held on the 15th November, the same day as the Police and Crime Commissioner elections. This was the first by-election in a Conservative held seat in the Parliament, and the first Labour gain.

Cardiff South and Penarth By election
Caused by the resignation of former Labour cabinet minister Alun Michael to contest the South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner election. Alun Michael was appointed Steward of the Chilten Hundreds on the 22nd October 2012. The by-election was held on the 15th November, the same day as the Police Commissioner elections and was an easy hold for Labour.

The by-election was held on the 15th November, the same day as the Police Commissioner elections and was an easy Labour hold on a very low turnout.
